Lake Caldaro is situated only a few kilometres (4.5) from the Hotel Markushof. As the largest and warmest lake in South Tyrol Caldaro lake draws up bathers and holiday guests from mid of May to early October. To paddle with a boat across the water is a delight for young and old and especially in the evening light a romantic venture. Because of the arise of the south wind "Ora" in the late afternoon on lake Caldaro, not only regular sailing regattas take place there but it makes it interesting for windsurfers, too.
Just north of the Lake Caldaro there are the Great and the Small Monticolo Lakes. The water park at the Great Monticolo Lake with the longest slide in South Tyrol and other highlights has to offer some superlatives. From locals affectionately called "Lido" it combines the amenities of a pool with those of the lake. The Little Lake Monticolo is idyllically nestled in the woods above the Great Monticolo lake.
To cool down have a dive into a small bathing mountain lake. The lakes provide peace and have a mystical aura.
