At 217 meters above sea level lies the medieval market town of Egna. The famous Tyrolean freedom fighter Andreas Hofer stayed here for a night in one of the dark cellars on his way to Mantua. Today, Egna is considered the cultural center of South Tyrol’s Unterland region with a town-like character, picturesque arcades, and tightly packed buildings in Venetian style.

Salorno lies at the Salorno Pass, the German-Italian language border, and is part of the Trudner Horn Nature Park. Here, the famous South Tyrolean Wine Road ends.

Immerse yourself in the historic charm of Bolzano's old town. The Gothic arcades, affectionately called "Lauben," still form the bustling shopping center of the city. The western end of these picturesque arcades is adorned by the colorful fruit market. Around Walther square, with the monument of the famous Minnesänger Walther von der Vogelweide, rise the grand palaces of the city’s aristocracy.

The regional capital, with its wealth of sights, is just 15 minutes away by train. Alternatively, you can cycle to the beautiful city on paved bike paths.

  • Renon: In just 12 minutes, the Renon cable car takes you up to Soprabolzano. From there, enjoy numerous hikes or take a ride on the historic narrow-gauge railway to Collalbo.
  • Colle: The Bolzano home mountain is the perfect place for both short and long hiking adventures.
  • San Genesio Atesino: A hiking tour across the scenic Salten plateau is a great trip at any time of year.
